EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (2016)

The Christ Child Society of Detroit (CCSD) offers a wide variety of leadership opportunities for those interested and willing to devote their organizational and leadership skills to our mission. Below is a roster of our Board of Directors:

Laura Keziah

PRESIDENT CCS DETROIT CHAPTER

The President shall be the chief executive of the Society and shall preside at all general and board meetings. The President shall appoint members who will serve as chairperson or co-chairperson of standing committees and special projects. The President shall be the official representative of the Society at all community functions requiring the president's presence.

Chris Schwartz

President-Elect

Assists the President and fills in when President not available. Attends Executive, Board of Directors and CCS House Advisory Council meetings.

Valerie George

VP Communications

Principle duties include writing, editing and publishing the CCS communiqué newsletter. Overseeing PR and Social Media. Taking photographs at CCS events.

Julie Pietrosante

VP Community Service

Provides oversight for the Layette Program, Layette Appeal, Literacy Program and Bereavement Gown project. Promotes these as volunteer opportunities for Society members.

Betsy Heid

Recording Secretary

Attends Executive, Board of Directors and Annual meetings. Takes minutes and attendance at all these meetings. Collects information annually for spending, planning and timeline.

Pam Surhigh

Treasurer

Responsible for monthly treasurer reports and developing yearly Society Budget, bank deposits and paying bills.

Mary Bergmann

Vice President, Membership

Responsible for providing and mailing the membership dues and renewal letters. In charge of collecting and tracking money owed to the Society. Chairs the Volunteer Fair.

Katie Gantner

Vice President, Fundraising

Oversees and reports on all CCS Fundraising events. This includes recruiting Chairs, evaluating fundraisers, establishing budgets and make recommendations for the following year.

Carol Roney

Vice President, House Chair

Chairperson of the House Advisory Committee. Co writes and delivers Executive Directors review. Oversees Child Enrichment, Heartwarmers and House Projects.

Sarah Dodge

Corresponding Secretary

Administrative assistant to President. Writes and mail Thank you Letters to donors and send Sympathy card to the family of a deceased CCS member or member who lost a family member

Tara Nittis

Director, Public Relations

Public Relations work with local media outlets to communicate and promote upcoming events and news for the Chapter and Society.

Lanie Cosgrove

Director, Child Enrichment

Responsible for organizing monthly, engaging activities for the boys at the Christ Child House.

Karen Kearns

Meeting Coordinator

Works with President to select dates of Annual and General meetings. Finds locations and plans menus where applicable. Responsible for invitations, RSVP’s and name tags.

Gretchen Klotz

Director, Junior Christ Child

Responsible for leading high school volunteers supporting CCS mission. Build Jr. CCS membership. Coordinate opportunities for members to gain experience volunteering in the community.

Cindi Mosher

Director, Art Enrichment Program

Provides bi-monthly art activities at the Christ Child House, along with an art therapist who plans and implements the art projects for the boys.

Jody Jennings

Director of Literacy

The Director of Literacy is responsible for identifying, planning and implementing an age appropriate reading program at an ``at need`` school.

Barb Heilala

Spiritual Coordinator

Meets with Msgr. Zenz to plan Annual Meeting Mass and Installation of Officers, Mass and Evening of Reflection and Mass of Remembrance. Provides a prayer for all board meetings.

Tinney Newman

Volunteer Coordinator

Promotes membership involvement with volunteer opportunities. Coordinates with Chairs of all events and fundraisers for volunteers.

Julie Hamaty

Director, Provisionals

Educate prospective CCS members on our mission statement and how we fulfill this through fundraisers, community service and involvement with programs at the Christ Child House.

Laura Karmanos

Media Specialist

Website and Social Media management including announcing up coming events, posting photographs from events, updating details and ensuring CCS interests are represented online.

Kathyrn Simonelli

Director of Layettes

Responsibilities include overseeing and scheduling layette assemblies, arranging volunteers, coordinating bimonthly agency pick-ups, and ordering supplies for layette sets.

Maria Glod

Director of House Projects

Oversees maintenance needs of the Christ Child House and the Layette House.
Finds volunteers for projects at the houses. Submits budget needs.
